Walking tour to discover a little gem: Monticchiello
Often my guests ask me the same question: where can I go if I want to walk? Nothing is easier for me to answer.
I love to walk in the country, and the villa is right on the path to an authentic, non-touristic village with a glorious view and a wonderful restaurant. As soon as you go out our gate you are on the road to Monticchiello. It's about 6 km away, on a gravel road through fields and rolling hills.
There are no signs but there's no way to get lost. No cars - it's for people who walk. And it is magic because the sound of your steps while you walk will be all you hear. In an hour and 10 minutes you will arrive at Monticchiello, a small village in the heart of the Val d'Orcia, whose beauty derives from its geographical position and the harmonious integration of its medieval architecture.
You can walk through this little village, with two small shops, a lovely Church, and a tower on top of the hill. But after a lot of physical exercise I always recommend a rest and lunch on the panoramic terrace of the restaurant La Porta, which is known for its quality and genuine food. A taxi will drive you back to the villa if you are too tired to walk it.
